Why can't the government print money and finance it's own operations free of Federal reserve loans?

LBJ took us off the gold standard, and Nixon took us off silver standard and cut precise mental in coins problems from that lasted more than ten years and there wasn't a revolution. The whole concept of money is changing it is becoming digital. Hoping everything goes digital back by gold. It really will get interesting when reasonably secure means of person to person digital exchange is developed.
