When should I start studying for the SAT/ACT?

Well, I am in eighth grade and I am sort of studying for it now. I'm doing this thing in my English cl where I have vocabulary test over words that are likely to be on the SAT, instead of doing the regular vocabulary tests. Also, in my advanced communications cl we have to sing vocabulary songs everyday. Although, I'm not actually doing any studying for it.
