Why is it when I'm logged into my mobile phone I'm not receiving notification that I received an IM?

It appears that "I'm Mobile" on my status but if someone IMs me I don't receive a text alerting me or giving me the message. I thought I remembered it working before but now it won't. Any information/suggestions would be great.
