Was Andrew MacKinlay MP right to quit over the hacker Gary McKinnon's extradition?

Is he hoping if he supports some Cause he will be seen as a good guy? Personally I think McKinnon should stand trial in US what he did could have caused innumerable problems for the whole world. His mother, with the usual sun gles on the head pose, fights for his rights, OMG say no more!
